Arduino IDE is version 1.8.5, Atmel Studio is 7.0.1931. Blink.ino verifies OK and also uploads and runs fine. When I start Atmel Studio, and choose New Project Create project from Arduino sketch OK, the sketch file field is blank and the browse button shows the message I described above. Hi all,
Atmel Studio For Mac Os X
I am struggling to get AS7.790 installed and would appreciate your collective wisdom.
Machine: Win7 Pro fully updated, i5, 8 GB, of older vintage, but well taken care of.

The problem seems to revolve around the Config.msi folder. The majority of the installation failures comes back with a failure to write a file within this directory. I have also been able to 'successfully install' AS7, but the program will not open correctly. Instead I get an error dialog stating that 'One or more components cannot be found. Please reinstall...', to paraphrase a bit.
Things I have tried:
1. Tried both the web install and the stand-alone. - both give about the same results.
2. changing msconfig to boot windows with no services, but then turn on Windows Installation service and starting installation. This was helpful to get to 'successfully installed', but was left with 'one or more components cannot be found...'
3. Took ownership of the c:Config.msi folder, per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative...

4. Usual round of disabling firewall, disable antivirus (Windows Security Essentials) and Run As Administrator.
I have tried about 20 times now over the past couple of weeks. I'm about to just move on. But, it just seems so silly to do that because I cannot get the IDE installed.... especially when this seems like a Windows problem. The only saving grace I have for windows here is that I have installed a ton of different applications without issue (Altium, Xilinx, Altera, OrCAD, Mentor, PADS, Simplicity Studio, IAR, TI's stuff, MS Office, git, python, etc, etc, etc..).
I have attached the installation logs and a screen capture of the installation error message.
