Aureal A3D Drivers & Demos
Required by all sound cards with Aureal A3D support.
Check the sound cards page if you don't know if your sound card has certified Aureal A3D support

The documentation that came with the card wasn't great, and it took a while to identify the problem, so I was looking outside the Creative family for my next sound card. I'd read several good reviews of the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card, so I figured I'd take a shot on it. That shot definitely paid off.

Don't install the Aureal A3D drivers in Windows 2000 or XP!

Aureal 2D Drivers
The Aureal A2D drivers allow 3D Sound on other sound cards, the A2D drivers provide:

  • DirectSound3D & occlusions support on any sound card with DirectSound3D support
  • Basic software 3D sound and occlusions support on any sound card without DirectSound3D support.

But the A2D drivers will only work correctly in applications and games, where the Aureal A3D support was:

  • Based on the Aureal A3D 2.0 or later Software Development Kit
  • Used Aureal's own resource manager.

Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound Card Drivers

Aureal A2D 3.12 driver (245KB) for Windows 95, 98, ME or NT4

EAX Unified driver
Allows EAX 2.0/3.0 software emulation on any sound card with EAX 1.0 support.

EAX 3.0 Unifed driver (93KB)

Linux drivers
Are included in the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture project.

Vortex 1 reference drivers
Check the Frequently Asked Questions if you don't know which chipset your sound card uses. The reference drivers should not be used with these sound card as you will lose support for the add-on boards:
